Stage 1 - Desired Results




Established Goals:
Specific Outcomes:
Topic A  Canada: It’s geography and People.
The environment plays a major role in determining where and how people in Canada live.

ICT Outcomes:
Below is a pdf file identifying all of the ICT outcomes touched on throughout this project. Click on the file to download it to your computer.

General Outcomes:
Canada has distinct physical regions and political divisions.

Canadians modify and adapt to natural settings in ways that affect their lifestyle and environment.

Essential Questions:
How do Canadians use their land and natural resources?
How does the Canadian environment affect the choices Canadians make in their lifestyle?
How does the environment affect us as individuals?
Do we have achoice in the way we adjust to our environment?
How do we change our environment?

Students will know:
How to log in.
How to access the internet.
Basic word processing skills.
Reword information(plagerism).
How to footnote resources.
How to locate,organize, interpret, record info.
Topic sentences.
Organization of paragraphs.


Students will be able to:
1. Use Process Skills (Info gathering, mapping,geography,analyzing,evaluating).

2.  Communication Skills.

3.  Participation Skills.



Stage 2 - Assessment Evidence






Performance Task(s)
You will be doing a group project on Topic A Canada: It’s geography and People. You will do these 3 sections: a. Research Information  b. Organize Information  c. Present Information (slide show).

Other Evidence (Quizzes, test, etc)
1. Rubric
2. Peer Evaluation
3. Teacher Assessment
4. Students’ actual project.

Student self-assessment (which will be done at the end of this project)



Stage 3 - Learning Plan






Teaching and Learning Activities
1. Show video, ‘Overview of Canada’.

2. Students go into groups. Show  resources.

3. Logon to Appleshare.
Insert support document (Internet addresses) into private folder
10 minutes to check out sites
How to use Inspiration (10 min.).* Rapid Fire and Arrange option.
Research.
Save and logoff

4. Students make slide show.
Logon
Introduce Claris slideshow:
       Select Draw program
       Select page direction (landscape)
       Select number of pages (across is easier) and page view (to see individual pages).
        Save as:initials.region name
       Open toolbox:Show Text boxes and how to copy image as object, not character.
       How to play slideshow
Begin slideshow
Logoff

5. Peer evaluation.
