Stage 1 - Desired Results
Exploration and settlement cause groups to have influence on each other, resulting in changes in the way people live.

Contact between people in Canada’s early history frequently resulted in competition, cooperation and conflict.
Our history contributed to shaping Canada into a bilingual nation.
Why did people become explorers?
What were the reasons for exploration?
Why is Canada a bilingual country?
Students will know:
-how to log in
-how to access the internet
-very basic word processing skills
-they must reword information (Plagerism)
-how to footnote resources
-how to organize their notes to gather info
-organization of paragraphs
Students will be able to:
Create a slide show for their presentation
Stage 2 - Assessment Evidence
The children will be doing a project on a specific Canadian explorer with the people in their group. The project will have 3 sections to it. The 1st section will be research that will answer questions about the individual explorer. The 2nd section will be to create a slide show using the information the students gathered. The 3rd section will be a presentation of the slide show

Stage 3 - Learning Plan
Teaching and Learning Activities
1.Show an introductory video to introduce explorers to the students
2.Read through and discuss teacher expectations
3.Group will choose which areas they are responsible for.
4.Group will do the research:
Logon to Appleshare.
Insert support document (Internet Addresses)
10 minutes to check out sites
Use Inspiration to gather notes. Demonstration on how Insp. notes works.
Save and logoff
5.Individuals will organize research into paragraph form
6.Students will learn how to make the slide show:
Introduce Claris slideshow:
Select Draw program
Select page direction (landscape)
Select number of pages (accross is easier) and page view (to see individual pages).
Save as:initials.region name
Open toolbox:Show Text boxes and how to copy image as object, not character.
How to play slideshow
7.Import paragraphs into the slide show and insert pictures
8.Present the slide show
